POSITION INFO:

Our client, a top employer to thousands of talented people is seeking a Senior SQL DBA to join their team in Cape town on a contract basis. The company offers extensive growth opportunities as well as the opportunity to work with a creative and dynamic team.

Description

The Senior DBA responsibilities will be as follows:
Performance tuning and Optimization of TSQL queries
Troubleshooting of production and Non-Prod issues
Monitoring and completion of DBA related Service Desk calls
Work in an agile environment with stand-ups, sprints and planning meetings
Backup and recovery of databases
Security maintenance of databases
Capacity Planning
Monitoring of SQL Server using 3rd party tools. Eg. SentryOne
Automation of daily DBA tasks
Consult with vendors on technical issues
24/7 Standby support

Requirements

Grade 12
5 – 10 solid experience as a SQL Server DBA in SQL 2008\2012\2014\2016\2017
Sound knowledge of TSQL
Sound knowledge of SQL Internals
Ability to work under pressure

Not required but advantageous:

Agile principals
Powershell or any other automation scripting language
Knowledge of Business Intelligence
Cloud principals
