Senior Software Developer

SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development and maintenance of in-house Automated Meter Reading (AMR) platforms and related energy management products. The role covers the full software development lifecycle, including system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing technical support to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-quality solutions.

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyse system requirements and design robust, scalable software solutions.
• Develop new software systems and sub-systems.
• Maintain, enhance, and optimise existing software products.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including release notes, test specifications, and user manuals.
• Conduct unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Provide second-line technical support for software-related issues.
• Assist with user training and develop supporting training materials.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and standards.

Qualifications

• Matric Certificate
• BSc in Computer Science or BEng in Computer, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering
• Knowledge of energy management systems or IoT technologies advantageous
• Experience with UX-centric design and development advantageous
• Exposure to analytics, data science, or AI/ML technologies advantageous
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) advantageous
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) advantageous

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience within a scientific, industrial, or technical environment
• 2–5 years of team leadership experience advantageous
• Minimum 5 years of project experience
• Strong proficiency in web services and APIs
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server technologies, including SSRS
• Strong proficiency in .NET stack and C# (C/C++ experience advantageous)
• Experience with version control systems such as Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Proven track record in product design and delivery
• Strong analytical and fault-finding skills
• Adaptability and ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Effective teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
