SUMMARY:
Senior Specialist - Capability Advisory Services

POSITION INFO:

Job Purpose

Perform fact-based analyses and assessment of internal and internal factors to identify challenges and collaborate with the organisation’s investee business Management Team to develop and craft appropriate, practical and implementable solutions.  

Work alongside our Business Partners and assist them to improve the delivery capacity and efficiencies of core business functions, build higher performing business processes and practices and ensure effectiveness of delivery teams and key individuals.  

Provide a professional consulting service to organisation’s investee businesses where expertise is required in areas of board and executive leadership, strategy and planning, risk and governance management, general operational management, financial management, marketing and sales, technical operations, digital business management, information technology and data management and people and team management or whenever the capabilities are not available internally.

Key Performance Areas

Business Strategy and Planning

  • Assist the organisation’s investee businesses by analysing their business’s goals and direction and ensure that practices align with company objectives
  • Applying the ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions to strategic and tactical issues, make suggestions to improve practices and adjust a company’s goals and mission to increase performance and market share
  • Advisory in area of strategy and operations that include corporate strategy assessment and development, customer and marketing strategy assessment and development, digital strategy assessment and development, restructuring/reorganisation, pricing & profitability management, technology and data management and business processes assessment and optimisation

Trends Analysis

  • Assist the organisation’s investee businesses with monitoring trends through business research and analysis, including financial analysis to help them adjust to changing conditions that affect goals and production through identifying key markets in which investee companies should be involved and help them adjust to be successful in market changes

Evaluate Competition

  • Assist investee companies understand competitor practices and market behaviors through the development of internal and external fact-bases using relevant data and information; and apply analysis of what works and what does not work for competitors to the oganisation’s investee companies so that they employ successful tactics and avoid pitfalls

Evaluate Performance

  • Assist the organisation’s investee businesses diagnose business processes or organisational problems by driving a rigorous approach to solving problems in the context of economic, technology and social trends and leveraging analytics to determine how our business partners can seize new opportunities

Assist in Decision-making processes

  • Working closely with senior management and executives in the organisation’s investee businesses, assist with key budgeting and production decisions based on fact-based evaluation of current practices and making suggestions to optimise costs, increase revenue and building leverageable assets by developing solutions for problems in these areas

Strategic Risk Management

  • Assist the organisation’s investee businesses anticipate risk scenarios, develop suitable risk management strategies, and establish mitigation measures for if that such scenarios manifest

Performance and Value Creation Plans (VCPs)

  • Assist the organisation’s investee businesses establish their businesses’ KPIs that facilitate the analysis/measurement of the businesses’ performance against overall goals, objectives, targets and budgets
  • Recommending and implementing changes and ensuring a successful transition to “what is new”
  • Review diagnostic assessment, develop terms of reference that will inform the capabilities that are required by existing clients
  • Continuous support to Early Stage [start-up] and small and medium entities (SME’s) to collaboratively grow the organisation’s clients through adjusted value creation and on ad-hoc requirements
  • Monitor the organisation’s investee businesses to whom consulting services are being provided to ensure recommendations are being appropriately and fully implemented
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation to measure the level of return on investment that has been achieved CSG Segments
  • Providing domain knowledge and expertise to support the organisation’s investee companies to realise profit and growth such as: Markets, Value Chain Insights, Manufacturing 4.0 and Technologies
  • Ensure the incorporation of core risk management principles and frameworks including- Corporate Governance, Credit, Operational and Financial risk levers
  • Stakeholder management and engagement to ensure alignment of roles and responsibilities and building up a repository of core knowledge and insights within the organisation supporting the delivery of the value creation plan for clients
  • Build a knowledge bank to be utilised by the organisation for future interventions
  • Create a reputation for the organisation being a “Centre of Excellence/Knowledge” hub of skills and expertise that add value to business partners
  • Upskill colleagues within the organisation’s Capability Advisory department on consulting skills  
  • Ensure knowledge transfer occurs, working in collaboration with the Knowledge Management Team

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: A Relevant Post-graduate degree in a business-related field. While all majors being acceptable: Business and quantitatively oriented majors such as Finance, Engineering, Economics, or Accounting are preferred
  • MBA/MBL will be added advantage
  • Project Management Professional skills will be added advantage

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Well-seasoned professional with a minimum of 5 years’ management consulting experience in a professional management consulting organisation 
  • Well-rounded with a consistent track record of outstanding performance and high learning agility  
  • Proven track record of building teams within the business partner environment
  • Strong Critical Thinking, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills are essential
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Proven entrepreneurial skills and key aspects of business partner relationships essential Experience working directly or having consulted in the core sectors would be an advantage
  • Experience and knowledge in: 
    • Business diagnostic assessment
    • Skills mapping to ensure the correct expertise are provided to the right client
    • Training, Coaching and Mentoring (incl. facilitating workshops at senior or executive level)
  • General business management experience
  • Project management experience essential
  • Internal and external client engagement & communication
  • Various domain knowledge such as processes engineering, manufacturing, various production topics, marketing and sales, finance and accounting, etc.
