Senior System Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client in the banking space is on the lookout for a brilliant senior system engineer The Senior System Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of all ICT systems. The individual should be well versed and have the required knowledge and expertise in design, securing, build and running internal systems, cloud.

POSITION INFO:

Responsibilities

• Maintain system performance in accordance with business requirements.
• Perform system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting and escalating issues, including proactive problem resolution and continuous improvement.
• Reduce operational risk and improve availability of server infrastructure, network systems and security posture by ensuring system access, monitoring, control, evaluation, and documentation practices are maintained and adhered to.
• Collect and analyse operational data (incident and change records) to identify emerging trends and assist with problem resolution and increased server availability.
• Develop, maintain and perform operational procedures and ensure operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages.
• Assist in the migration and maintenance of various systems to the cloud ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
• Evaluate new system hardware and software solutions and monitor the market for emerging technology.
• Assist and drive automation initiatives to reduce administrative overheads.
• Ensure vendors and 3rd party suppliers and providers are managed in accordance with SLA’s.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Senior System Engineer, Senior Network Engineer, or similar role.
• Relevant operational experience in running and maintaining enterprise systems within a large organization.
• In-depth knowledge and expertise of virtualized systems, networks (LAN, WAN), and security designs.
• Certification and experience in the design and administering of Office 365, Azure, and related cloud platforms.
• Sound knowledge in the design, build and run elements of disaster recovery, backup, and system availability.
• BSc or Btech in Information Technology; Computer Science or a related discipline
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification
• Nutanix Master/Profession Multicloud Infrastructure certification
• Information security knowledge/experience is advantageous.
