Our client is one of the most diverse consulting firms in Africa. To further their strategic business expansion plan, they are seeking new employees who are loyal, committed, competent and proud to work for them. They are looking for an experienced Senior Water Design Engineer.

Position Overview:
The Water Design Engineer will be part of the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Team fulfilling a leadership position in the management and delivery of design and advisory projects in Africa, and to support the international business where required.

Requirements:

• BSc / BEng (Civil Engineering);
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in the water and wastewater engineering;
• Professional Registration (Pr Eng) with ECSA mandatory for a minimum of two years
• Technical advisory experience;
• Experience working with mine water;
• Knowledge of the relevant standards, regulations and legislation in the water and wastewater field;
• Experience working with the following will be an advantage: Mechanical plant related to pump stations and water & wastewater treatment works, process design of water and wastewater treatment works, asset management, water conservation and demand management; and
• Demonstrated experience with Resources clients and water authorities
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and similar water related design tools will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing and performing high quality technical advisory works;
• Engineering Management of water and wastewater projects including interfacing between engineering disciplines
• Design and engineering analysis of water and wastewater projects like pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, water treatment works and wastewater treatment works etc.;
• Keep up to date with environmental policies and developments relating to water;
• Conduct project design reviews and suggest technical and design improvements;
• Preparation and management of technical specifications, bills of quantities, tender documentation and evaluations;
• Risk management, including construction, operational, and financial risk as well as risk management;
• Monitoring project construction and acceptance including site visits and commissioning supervision;
• Project Financial Management, including monthly financial reviews to track project revenue and resource planning;
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers including reviewing, checking and approving work output of junior engineers.
• Drive and participate in work-winning in defining and deploying our engagement strategy, selecting target markets and clients, and in scoping and pricing of services;
• Prepare and manage proposals for client’s projects such as Due Diligence, Technical Advisory services, Owner’s Engineering, Lenders Technical Advisor and other service offerings, and provide inputs for the internal governance process;
• Manage existing and new customer relationships through efficient client and account management; and
• Attend internal and external meetings and represent the company in a suitable fashion.
• Maintaining relationships with internal divisions, external contractors and clients.
