Server and Storage Engineer

POSITION INFO:

Our Client a Global Tech firm is seeking a Server and Storage Engineer to join their team in Cape town on a 12 month contract. They offer stability, competitive rates, growth and an excellent working environment.

As a Server and Storage Engineer, you''ll be responsible for maintaining our server infrastructure. You will also provide support to other engineers on systems administration tasks related to the network and storage subsystems.

Requirements

• Provide third (3rd) line server or storage support to the 1st and 2nd line teams, as well as all operational teams within the Ce-I space;
• Work with minimal guidance, providing operating system and hardware support to the global server and storage estate;
• Provide technical support in both a proactive and reactive manner, ensuring systems are stable and performing within the terms of their respective standards;
• Provide day-to-day monitoring, capacity planning, and management of the existing estate.
• Evaluate and apply any necessary operating system security patches, hotfixes, service packs, and hardware updates.
• Work with other operational teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise and work with vendor support where necessary.
• Deliver results within given time frames, ensuring that work is consistent, well documented, and always in line with Clients ICT standards.
• Virtual, on-premise, and cloud server maintenance;
• Backup and restore of servers in the environment;
• Act on management requests to address or mitigate risks in the server and storage environment as identified by the internal or external auditors and other governance-related assessments (including penetration tests)
• Enhance IT continuity procedures in the server estate and assist in exercising those procedures.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate or evidence of minimum NQF Level 4
• HP or other server engineer certification or combination of ICT training courses relevant to server environment eg in the following technologies:
• Microsoft Server OS
• VMware
• Linux OS
• Backup and Recovery Technologies (eg Veeam, Veritas)
• Hardware Break Fix on HPE ML/DL/BL Platforms
• Implementation and configuration of the HPE systems
• SAN Fabrics
• Related collective 5-year experience in the same or similar role;

Evidence of service rendered in an organization of 500+ users (evidence of at least one organization to be reflected in CV)
