Services Costing & Manufacturing Coordinator

SUMMARY:
Assess drawings, complete costing sheets, coordinate manufacturing projects, etc.

POSITION INFO:

Basic Requirements:

• Formal Tertiary education: Grade 12
• Inventor qualification
• Languages:
  • English – Read, write and speak (required)
  • Afrikaans – Read, write and speak (optional)
• Drivers Licence: Code 8 (required)

Experience:

• Ability to read & interpret detail & requirements from mechanical design drawings
• Knowledge of various metals & materials & the characteristics of the material, especially during
  the manufacturing process
• Knowledge of various treatment processes
• Additional training &/or mechanical safety certificates would be beneficial
• 2+ years’ industry/relevant experience.

Job Objectives:

• Assess drawings and ensure that all materials and materials sizes are correct for specific task.
• Complete costing sheet for Administrator to prepare a quotation.
• Coordinate manufacturing projects to ensure they are completed in time. (In-house and outsourced).
• Manufacturing & Material Purchasing.
• Overall M-project coordinating; Manufacturing, BOs & logistics.
• Completion of timing simulation sheets.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Assessment of drawings.
• Generate quotes with lead times on manufactured components.
• Give ample lead time to make sure that parts are completed in time.
• Request quotes from various suppliers and check/assess quote pricing.
• Receiving BOM’s, assess them and make sure that each drawing is accompanied by correct material.
• Check quantities.
• Load PO’s and release drawings/material out to supplier to be manufactured.
• Booking out an entire fabrication according to a drawing provided.
• Understanding each manufacturer’s capabilities.
• Assess finishes on received parts (Quality checks).
• Assess, rework part and decide whether it can be salvaged or whether supplier should provide a new part (Quality checks).
• Knowing different grades of steels and materials for best manufacturing results.
• Coordinating/Managing manufacturing projects to ensure they are completed in time.
• Overall project coordinating including BOs, Manufacturing, and Packing & Logistics. (Follow up and work closely with administrator to ensure BOs are received and packed on time).
