SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for an experienced and proactive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Officer to join their team in a manufacturing environment based in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, hands-on auditing experience, and a passion for maintaining high safety and compliance standards.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Qualification in Environmental, Health and Safety Management
• SAMTRAC certification with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
• Sound knowledge of EHS regulations and policies
• Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office
• Internal auditing experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 22000 standards
• Ability to deliver training sessions across all levels of staff
• Proactive, reliable, and responsible approach to work
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Good administrative and document management skills
• Experience in the packaging or manufacturing industry would be an advantage
• Firefighting certificate (Level 1) and a basic understanding of fire risk management
• Strong report writing skills
• Knowledge of food safety requirements and practices

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 22000 standards
• Conduct Health and Safety Induction Training for all personnel on site
• Maintain both electronic and physical SHE documentation systems
• Carry out internal SHE audits and assist with corrective actions
• Conduct and review HIRAs (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments), WSWPs (Work Safe Work Procedures), and PJOs (Planned Job Observations)
