SUMMARY:
Our client specializes in project support for the (petro)chemical and maritime industries. They provide personnel in the areas of Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Maintenance, and Safety. They are seeking Shipbuilding Design Engineers to join their team in the Netherlands.

POSITION INFO:
Job Title: Shipbuilding Design Engineer
Location: Netherlands
Salary: To be discussed in the Interview
Vacancy Type: Full-Time

Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required:

Location Requirement: Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 1 - 10 years of experience in shipbuilding design, with expertise in one or more disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, piping).
Languages: Fluent in Afrikaans.

Skills:

Proficiency in shipbuilding design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, NAPA, or other industry-specific tools).
Solid understanding of shipbuilding materials, construction techniques, and maritime regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Personal Skills: Excellent teamwork and communication abilities, proactive problem-solving, and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Duties and responsibilities:

Design and develop structural, mechanical, electrical, or piping systems for shipbuilding projects.
Ensure that designs comply with international maritime regulations, safety standards, and customer specifications.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including naval architects, structural engineers, and project managers.
Perform calculations and simulations to ensure the integrity and performance of ship structures and systems.
Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and reports as per project requirements.
Provide technical support during the construction phase and resolve any design-related issues.
