Shipping General Manager

SUMMARY:
Our shipping client is recruiting for a Senior Shipping General Manager for the Durban branch. This candidate must have experience in the chandling environment, experience with operations and sales management.

POSITION INFO:

Responsibilities:

• Commercial work to entertain existing customer relationships and develop new ones.
• Ships’ visit when necessary.
• Establish competitive commercial propositions to promote and expand activity.
• Receive and analyse enquiries from clients.
• Sourcing, quotation, and procurement processes
• Inspections of products (compliance, quality, packaging, etc,)
• Establish packing list, invoice and all relevant delivery documentation.
• Any other duty that is reasonable and relevant to this position
• Engage with prospective Clients.
• Select Suppliers and Products
• Approve quotations to Clients independently.
• Issue orders to Suppliers
• Finalise Invoices to Clients

 Abilities:

• Ability to cold call.
• Acquire strong sales experience.
• Ability to problem solve and find a practical solution to issues.
• Acquire good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to negotiate.
• Able to work independently.
• Ability to understand the business process and interpret business needs.
• Be willing to work overtime when required.
• Be able to work under pressure and in stressful environments.
• Fully computer literate in Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook and Power point.

Requirements:

• Matric is essential
• Minimum of 5 years'' demonstrated working in a shipchandling environment

 Skills:

• Strong administrative skills and computer skills
• Proven track record in sales
• Analytical and mathematical skills to assist in quotations
• Great organizational and time management skills
