Short - Term Pricing Analyst

SUMMARY:
Our client operating in the Financial Services sector is searching for a hard-working and dedicated individual to join their Johannesburg based finance team as a Short -Term Pricing Analyst. Essentially, the Short -Term Pricing Analyst will take on Actuarial roles and/or responsibilities involving commercial short -term insurance products development and/or pricing.

POSITION INFO:

Our client operating in the Financial Services sector is searching for a hard-working and dedicated individual to join their Johannesburg based finance team as a Short -Term Pricing Analyst. Essentially, the Short -Term Pricing Analyst will take on Actuarial roles and/or responsibilities involving commercial short -term insurance products development and/or pricing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree specialising in Actuarial Science, Mathematics and/or Statistics
• Bachelor of Business Science (BBusSci) degree specialising in Actuarial Science and/or Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree specialising in Economics
• Technical Member of Actuarial Society of South Africa (TASSA) designation is non-negotiable
• Subject F103 (previously Subject ST pass and/or attempt is highly advantageous   
• Advanced proficiency in Business Intelligence (BI) software tools including R and Python programming languages

Job description & Skills:

• Providing data analyses from various sources while applying statistical modelling methods to evaluate pricing strategies and market trends relevant to Short-Term Pricing
• Ensuring the development of feasible and/or profitable pricing strategies that aptly respond to changing market trends by tracking customer engagements
• Providing research, reports, and presentations on current industry trends and new pricing tools to support the development and/or pricing of short-term insurance products
• Reporting on various aspects of pricing monitoring including loss ratios, rate changes, and price strength ratios
• Conducting data analyses and producing reports, and that includes data manipulation and data visualisation using R, Python, and Structured Query Language (SQL) languages
• Facilitating the development and maintenance of rating tools, templates, and rules engines
• Managing of various source data while ensuring the maintenance of data integrity by sourcing new data requirements
• Conducting ongoing data audits to ensure compliance with the relevant Data Quality Policies and/or regulatory standards
• Preparing and/or presenting technically complex Actuarial information relating to the development and/or pricing of short-term insurance products to non-technical and/or ‘lay’ audience
• Assisting with the completion of ad hoc activities including resolving pricing related queries and/or systems testing and development
