Short Term Reinsurance Specialist (Corporate Actuarial)

A Short Term insurance Company is seeking the expertise of a Short Term Reinsurance Specialist in Pretoria

They have an exciting opportunity available within the Corporate Actuarial Team.  They are in search of a dynamic individual to support the Short Term Reinsurance Specialist function.  This position needs to be assumed by and individual who is excited by the prospecty of tackling something technical, ever-evolving and challenging.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Successful candidate would be responsible for:

Managing the annual renewal of the company''s annual reinsurance treaties including oversight of the preparation of data packs to be sent to markets, treaty workding reviews and calculation of projections.

Managing reinsurance broker tender processes

Oversight of catastrophe and large loss modelling including treaty purchase optimization

Managing monthly/annual financial reporting including calculation of reinsurance recoveries for IFRS/SAM, preparation of bordereaux for reinsurance markets, preparing reconciliations, calculations of KRIs and communicating with internal and external auditors.

Adapting and maintaining the existing reinsurance SQL processes.

Managing relationships with reinsurance markets

Sourcing and negotiating ad-hoc facultative reinsurance contracts

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for someone who:

HAs relevant work experience of at least 2 years in a reinsurance field whether it be a reinsurer , reinsurance broker or direct insurance company

Has very strong communication skills, both verbal and written communication

Has strong analytical ability and programming skills.  Being proficient in SQL and/or R is an advantage

Someone who likes to take initiative and manage projects to completion

Somenoe who is detail-orientated and a multi-tasker
