Site Engineer - Bakery / Food Manufacturing

SUMMARY:
A well-known Food Manufacturing and Distribution Company requires the above to ensure that systems and procedures are put in place to guarantee a hygienic and food safe production environment and that the business is compliant with the latest regulations and standards for health and safety, statutory inspection and good manufacturing practices.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements for the role:

• A degree or diploma or related qualification in Electrical Engineering with a mechanical background or similar qualification is essential for this role.
• Previous experience having worked as an Electrical Engineer with mechanical background or in a similar position is essential.
• Previous experience having worked in a managerial position within the food industry is essential.
• The successful candidate must have a good understanding and has been directly involved with automation projects.
• Must have formal FSSC 22000 training completed from any food or related environments.
• Must have excellent communication skills for confident and professional liaison with internal and external customers and subordinates.
• Must have user’s knowledge of standard software systems.

• Monitoring and reviewing plant availability to production, achieved through plant maintenance, breakdown support and spare stock availability. 
• Ensuring safe systems of work and risk assessments are maintained within the Workshop Department. 
• Driving health and safety on site and providing engineering support for health and safety.
• Ensuring the business operates to the latest regulations for health and safety, food safety, statutory inspections and fire protection.
• Maintaining and repairing equipment to ensure it operates in a safe and reliable manner and is hygienic and suitable for production requirements. 
• Ensuring maintenance is carried out as per the OEM guidelines and by finding ways to improve the reliability of equipment and determining risk areas.
• Being involved in the purchase of new plant equipment, ensuring it is hygienically designed to facilitate easy cleaning and efficient operation.
• Setting annual budgets for the Workshop Department, ensuring the department achieve planned production requirements within agreed budgets.
• Establishing with the Production Department a production plan, which achieves customer requirements whilst also considering pre-planned maintenance requirements to ensure maximum plant availability.
• Establishing good co-operative internal relationships with the relevant departments and colleagues, keeping them informed of potential issues which may affect product safety or customer services levels.
• Maintaining the pre-planned maintenance system ensuring all recommended manufacture maintenance schedules are adhered to. 
• Maintaining regular inspections of equipment to minimise downtime and ensuring that the relevant spares are available and controlled.
• Ensuring all contractors are working to the Business’s policies, all work is carried out in a safe manner and protecting the Company’s employees from risk and product from contamination or failure.
• Having an understanding of the Company’s code of conducts, policies and procedures, specific requirements, industry best practice and other related requirements.
• Acting as the appointed GMR 2.1
• Completing electrical electronic and control maintenance and production lines, as well as site utilities.
• Improving and maintaining electrical compliance on site.
