POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor''s degree in an engineering field / 10+ years of experience in production/military/automotive environment
Preferred 6+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership role - strong leadership skills
Understand applications of material management systems (Kanbans, 5S, JIT, Lean)
Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
Able to effectively communicate with engineering and production (verbal and written)
Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications & test procedures.
Schematics: engineering drawings, circuit layouts, and parts list
Cable Harnesses: wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and parts list.
Mechanical Assemblies: mechanical drawings and parts lists
Safety training / Lean manufacturing principles / calm demeanour
Computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
Evaluating and hiring top talent, customer focused, organised, analytical
Forecasting and budgeting equipment and consumables for responsible areas
Working knowledge of safety standards and ISO systems.
Experience with large project controls.
Proficiency with loaded schedules using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or other software
Experience implementing automation into production processes
Understand resource allocation requirements, exposure to mass production
Knowledge of capacity planning critical processes
Extended hours/weekend work may be required, ability to travel to JHB when required
DUTIES
Leading and managing a staff of 35+ managing complete production process
Ensuring safety at all times & lead overall manufacturing development strategy
Create, maintain and communicate production schedules with sufficient details
Provide technical direction and mentorship for team members
Manage modification, repair, assembly and integration of production assemblies
Resolve reoccurring non-conformance issues
Review work instructions, make change recommendations when needed
Meet tight production schedules to achieve high-rate production
Responsible for assessing, staffing and vetting the appropriate skill sets needed
Monitor material costs and cost savings
Identify and set up training programs
Develop, initiate, coordinate, and enforce system policies, and procedures
Monitor labour hours and overtime, and implement improvement plans
Manage capacity planning of equipment and personnel
Coordinate with engineering and other departments to minimise production interruptions
Develop and assure adequate machine maintenance schedules and back-up spares
Drive innovation to refine processes and increase manufacturing efficiency and capabilities
Identify automation opportunities and establish requirements
Develop/source new tools and capital equipment to drive harness manufacturing
Drive design for manufacturing best practices & design for test with design & test engineers
Optimise service, productivity and customer satisfaction levels
Analyse and adjust workload & utilise continuous improvement methodology
Use scheduling, materials and order processing systems
Create and interpret value stream maps
Understands how to design line layout, workstations and material presentation
