Software Developer

SUMMARY:
We are looking for a skilled intermediate Software Developer who, along with an excellent Software Development team, will be responsible for developing and maintaining solutions which drive the digitisation of the business. This is an exciting opportunity to directly contribute to the success of the business.

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:

• Development, staging and production environment: Establish the necessary development, testing and production environment and maintain such an environment with up-to-date best practices and tools.
• System performance: Monitoring of application performance and implementation of measures to ensure systems perform at suitable levels.
• Planning and design: Systematically think through and identify a solution, then outline the necessary steps to develop a fully deployable feature set.
• Development: Develop clean, clear and reliable code according to industry best practices.
• Technology evaluation and research: Research and evaluation of new technologies and proposed ways of improving existing systems.
• Technical delivery: Timely and reliable deployments of new features and maintenance fixes.
• Quality and continuous improvements: Continuous measurement of quality of code and features and proactive identification of areas for improvement.
• Standards, policies and procedures: Adopt and assist in implementing standardised, documented ways of work that all team members agree upon and uphold.
• Testing: Implement necessary code testing and do the necessary technical testing before handing features over for QA testing.
• Documentation: Use clear and thorough code commentary and where necessary include process and diagrammatic documentation.
• Production and customer support: Investigate user issues once escalated and resolve issues with the appropriate action.
• Maintenance (Break/Fix): Conduct routine maintenance on application code; either proactively to prevent future issues from arising, or in response to issues identified by users.
• Personal characteristics: Proactive, collaborative, accountable, inclusive, resourceful, professional, considerate.

• A BSc in Computer Science
• 2 to 5 years of software engineering or software development experience, preferably in a related field.
• Hands-on programming experience in Python Django & SQL
• Excellent coding skills.
• A comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts.
• Experience working in an agile team managed by Scrum.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
• The ability to prioritize activities and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with clients and business partners.
• Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
• The ability to travel as necessary.
