  Key Accountabilities:
  • The Linux team in ZA is part of the global operations network and delivers an important contribution for standard operation and project services for over 600 OS instances. Additionally, the team is responsible for Backup and Data Encryption Services for the Group.
  • Server installation and de-commissioning
  • Supporting problem, incident and change management according ITIL
  • Interacting with international colleagues within the Group
  • Implement software and hardware updates.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex configuration and troubleshooting issues within a multi-vendor infrastructure.
  • Ensure process KPIs (Key Process Indicators), preparations for planned changes, analysing and solving incidents and problems.
  • Scripting (Perl, Phyton, CGI, Bash and Splunk).
  • Implement, and maintain system security standards, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the Group standards.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure standards documentation as it relates to infrastructure systems design, configuration, support, and processes.
  • Manage all operations regarding the Data Security Manager (Vormetic DSM)
  Personality and Attributes:
  • Develop and maintain web applications.
  • Analyse and Implement new system  requirements specifications.
  • Ensure that all processes are investigated / considered in obtaining the specifications of  the user requirements.
  • Propose and review system designs and evaluate alternatives.
  • Review and present proposals / system solutions to IT Project Lead, DevOps Team,
    QA Team, and Product Owner / Business team.
  • Develop systems solutions in line with quality and delivery requirements.
  • Analyse and fix Production Known Errors.
  • Integrate front-end (JSF/Angular) and back-  end (Java) application components.
  • Integrate back-end (Java) and database (Oracle/DB2) components.
  • Write, analyse, and debug Java code.
  • Write, analyse, and debug  JSF/Angular/JavaScript/Typescript/HTML/CSS
    code.
  • Write, analyse, and debug SQL/PLSQL code.
  • Write, analyse, and debug shell scripts.
  • Analyse and resolve bugs, code smells, and security vulnerabilities reported by SonarQube  code analysis. 
  • System testing/parallel runs.
  • Deploy to TEST and UAT environments.
  • Communicate deployments to DevOps/QA/UAT teams.
  • Ensure QA and UAT sign-off by supporting defect troubleshooting resolution.
  • User training (for new / enhanced system functionalities).
  • Prepare Production deployment artefacts.
  • Prepare Production deployment plan documents.
  • Preparation of system/technical documentation (as per ISO standards).
  • Preparation/Updating of user and operation manuals.
  • Communicate Production deployment plan to Production Support team.
  • System implementation / deployment release activities.
