Software Development Manager

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dynamic Software Development Manager, (IT Systems Development and Governance Manager), to lead the next phase of the company’s digital transformation journey. This strategic leadership role will oversee systems development, strengthen governance and cybersecurity, and drive the digitalisation of business-critical systems. Based in Centurion. 

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial insight, leadership capability, and a passion for building secure, scalable, and future-ready technology environments.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements: Degree in Computer Science or similar information technology related degree 7+ years IT experience 3+ years in a leadership role Experience in Software Development environments SQL Service database experience IT Governance , Cybersecurity and Project Management experience Experience with managing third-party service providers Advantageous certificates: ITIL Foundation, COBIT Foundation, PMP\/Prince2, ISO 27001, CISA, Microsoft Certificates Technical skills required: SQL Service Database Design & Administration Systems Analysis Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Source Control (Grit) Change Management API Integrations Microsoft Service Environments Cybersecurity Principles Advantageous skills: VB.Net C# Microsoft Azure PowerBI Power Platform LIMS Platforms Laboratory Information Systems Environmental Monitoring Systems Responsibilities: Strategic leadership role responsible for: IT Governance & Compliance Digital Transformation & Strategy ALICE\/ LIMS Implementation Software Development Oversight Cybersecurity Management Database & Data Governance Vendor & Service Provider Management Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Technical Quality Assurance Developer Backup & Continuity IT Governance & Compliance Development IT governance framework and policies Manage IT audits and track findings Manage IT risk register Ensure POPIA and information security compliance Maintain IT asset, software & license registers Report to Executive Management Digital Transformation & Strategy Develop digitalization roadmap Identify automation and optimization opportunities Lead digital initiatives across the business Evaluate new technologies Align technology with business strateg ALICE\/ LIMS Implementation Lead ALICE and Future LIMS implementations Manage data migration, integration and UAT Coordinate vendors & Project timelines Ensure user adoption and deployment Manage future system enhancements Software Development Governance Manage internal Software Developer Review code, architecture and database changes Approve releases prior to deployment Ensure source control testing and documentation Oversee SDLC and change management Cybersecurity Management Lead Cyber Security Improvement Programme Implement MFA Coordinate Vulnerability assessment Manage endpoint protection and monitory Ensure compliance with group Security Framework Conduct awareness training and incident response Database & Data Governance Manage SQL Server database Oversee backup, recovery and performance Maintain DR & BC plans Provide technical backup during developer absence Reduce key-person dependency through knowledge transfer Direct Reports: Software Developer Future IT Support technicians External IT Service Providers (VPNT) Software Vendors & Implementation Partners KPI's Successful implementation of ALICE and digitalization initiatives Closure of IT Audit finding Improved cybersecurity maturity Successful annual DR resting System availability and reliability targets achieved Reduced key-person dependency Completion of technical documentation Effective management of system changes and releases Please note only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
