SUMMARY:
A fast-growing renewable energy company is seeking a driven and commercially astute Solar Business Developer to expand its footprint across C&I (Commercial & Industrial) and utility-scale markets. This role is ideal for someone passionate about clean energy, with a strong ability to identify opportunities, build relationships, and close high-value deals.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the solar PV and renewable energy sector
- Drive sales of turnkey solar solutions (rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid systems)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, EPCs, and key stakeholders
- Conduct market research and stay ahead of industry trends and competitors
- Prepare and present compelling proposals, tenders, and financial models
- Negotiate contracts and close deals to meet and exceed revenue targets
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure successful project execution
- Develop strategic partnerships to grow market presence
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to project handover
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
- 3–7 years’ experience in business development or sales within solar / renewable energy
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, PPAs, and energy solutions
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and closing deals
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Financial acumen with experience in deal structuring and ROI analysis
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
Advantageous- Experience with C&I or utility-scale solar projects
- Network within the South African energy sector
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and grid connection processes
- Familiarity with energy storage and hybrid systems
