Our client, a leading solar solutions company, is seeking a Solar PV Designer / Draughtsman / Engineer (Commercial Systems) to join their team in Somerset West, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Draughting, or a related field, with proven experience in commercial and industrial solar PV design. Strong knowledge of grid-tied PV systems, SSEG processes in South Africa, and NRS/SANS standards is essential. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required, while experience with HelioScope, PVsyst, or similar software is advantageous.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Draughting, or a related field

DUTIES: Solar PV System Design:- Develop concept, detailed, and as-built designs for commercial solar PV systems.
- Produce AC and DC layouts, string configurations, inverter placement, and equipment schedules.
- Prepare and update Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and general arrangement drawings.
- Size PV arrays, inverters, protection devices, and associated equipment.
Technical Modelling & Tools:- Perform yield and performance modelling using tools such as HelioScope, PVsyst, or equivalent.
- Support energy yield assumptions and design optimization.
- Assist with shading analysis and layout optimization.
Compliance & Documentation:- Ensure designs comply with NRS 097-2-1, SANS standards, municipal SSEG requirements, and utility guidelines.
- Prepare technical documentation for municipal SSEG submissions, engineering sign-off, and construction packs.
- Support final as-built documentation post-installation.
Project & Construction Support:- Provide technical support to project managers during construction and commissioning.
- Assist with design revisions arising from site constraints or municipal feedback.
- Review site photos and redline drawings to confirm as-built accuracy.
Coordination & Communication:- Liaise with internal teams, consultants, and external engineers
- Support interaction with municipalities where technical clarification is required.
- Work alongside EPC and O&M teams to ensure design intent is maintained.

- Fridays: 07:30 – 15:00
