Sous Chef

SUMMARY:
A wildlife sanctuary in the Barberton region is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to oversee the culinary operations for its volunteer programme.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and well-presented meals for volunteers while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen efficiency. This role is ideal for a creative and organised chef with experience in both plated service and buffet catering.

POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENT: RSA ID and legal residence essential Minimum 5 years' experience as a Chef within a hospitality environment Proven experience with both plated service and buffet catering Strong food preparation, presentation, and menu planning skills Excellent knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety standards Ability to manage stock, food costs, and kitchen organisation Passionate, reliable, and able to work independently Strong communication and teamwork skills KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare and present high-quality meals for the volunteer programme Plan and prepare both plated meals and buffet services Ensure consistent food quality and presentation standards Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control Minimise food waste and maintain cost-effective kitchen operations Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations Assist with menu planning and accommodate dietary requirements where necessary PACKAGE: R8,000 - R12,000 per month (DOE) Live-in accommodation provided All meals provided LOCATION: Barberton - Mpumalanga
