JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a Sous Chef to join their friendly team on their 5* Game Lodge in the Zululand area.

The individual must be a professional, all-rounder Sous Chef to be the second in command in the kitchen, following the specifications and guidelines of the Executive Chef.
 
 The successful candidate will use his or her culinary and managerial skills to play an important role in maintaining and improving the  guests' satisfaction.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Sous Chef (strong Pasty knowledge is a plus)
  • Qualification in Culinary/Professional Cooking
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
  • Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices
Duties included by not limited to:
  • Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
  • Produce high quality plates both design and taste wise
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
  • Fill in for the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
  • Assist in Managing and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance
  • Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and guests
  • Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating, assist in training junior cook
