A luxury boutique hotel in Durban is seeking an experienced and passionate Spa Manager to lead its exclusive wellness offering and create exceptional guest experiences through world-class treatments, personalised wellness journeys, and operational excellence. The Role As Spa Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the spa and wellness operation, ensuring every guest receives a personalised, seamless, and memorable experience. You will be responsible for spa operations, treatment delivery, revenue growth, product sales, team leadership, guest satisfaction, and maintaining the highest standards of luxury hospitality. The successful candidate will have experience working within a premium spa, luxury hotel, wellness retreat, or five-star hospitality environment and will be confident managing both the guest experience and commercial performance of the business. Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Wellness Delivery Deliver professional spa treatments and therapies to the highest industry standards. Create personalised wellness journeys tailored to individual guest needs and preferences. Provide expert skincare, wellness, and product recommendations. Ensure all guest interactions reflect the luxury standards of the hotel. Anticipate guest requirements and create memorable wellness experiences. Manage VIP guest requests and bespoke treatment programmes. Maintain exceptional treatment room presentation, ambience, and cleanliness. Spa Operations Management Oversee the daily operation of the spa and wellness facility. Ensure treatment schedules are managed efficiently to maximise utilisation. Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and operational compliance. Manage spa inventory, retail products, and treatment consumables. Coordinate maintenance and upkeep of spa facilities and equipment. Ensure all operational procedures align with brand standards and guest expectations. Revenue Growth & Commercial Performance Drive treatment bookings, package sales, and retail product revenue. Develop and implement innovative spa packages and wellness experiences. Identify opportunities to increase guest spend and repeat visitation. Monitor booking trends and optimise treatment schedules. Manage spa budgets, revenue targets, and operational costs. Source premium wellness products and exclusive treatment offerings. Team Leadership & Development Recruit, train, mentor, and develop spa therapists and wellness staff. Conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions. Foster a culture of professionalism, service excellence, and guest care. Ensure staff maintain exceptional presentation and service standards. Support ongoing professional development and industry training initiatives. Brand & Wellness Strategy Contribute to the development of the hotel's wellness and luxury guest experience strategy. Identify emerging wellness trends and introduce innovative treatment concepts. Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to promote spa services and packages. Assist with wellness events, retreats, and guest experience initiatives. Minimum Requirements Advanced Diploma in Spa & Salon Management, Wellness Management, Beauty Therapy, or a related field. CIDESCO, ITEC, CIBTAC, SAAHSP, or equivalent internationally recognised qualification. Professional Massage Therapy and Advanced Skincare certifications. Minimum 5 years' experience within a luxury spa, five-star hotel spa, wellness retreat, luxury lodge, or premium wellness brand. Proven experience managing spa operations and wellness teams. Strong knowledge of luxury skincare, wellness products, and treatment protocols. Experience working with VIP, high-net-worth, and international clientele. Strong financial management and revenue generation experience. Knowledge of spa booking systems, CRM platforms, and retail management. Excellent communication, leadership, and guest engagement skills.
