Our client''''s mine is one of the major Iron Ore producers in South Africa with a well-established overseas market. The Mine is situated in the Southern Kalahari.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (Essential)
- B Tech/ B Degree (NQF Level 7) in Electrical Engineering / Electronic / Information Technology (Recommended)
Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years relevant operational technology industrial experience in a mining or plant environment, of which two (2) years must be in a Specialist capacity (Essential)

- VBA, VB, C++, Python etc. (Visual studio)
- Advanced SCADA scripting
- Ability to write basic and advanced SQL queries
- PLC programming (Ladder, SFC, FDB)
- VSD’s and Electronic overload relays
- Setup parameter setting and interfacing (Single and Multi-drive)
- Ability to setup network switches (Hirschmann, Rajant, Stratix) (Advanced user)
- Interfaces and protocols (OPC DA / HAD / UA, Modbus, MQTT)
- Network topologies and configurations
- Server setup and configuration, both physical and virtual machines (Blade server environment with VMWare vSphere)
- OT Cybersecurity, IT / OT firewalls (Checkpoint)
- Secure remote access control
- Patch and endpoint protection management
- Continuous threat detection
- System / Software backups and disaster recovery
- Configure and distribute basic plant / process information reports to all stakeholders
- Understanding of Operational Technology (OT) systems landscape

- Management information – understanding the data / information flow from sensor-to-boardroom
- Understanding of the OT systems landscape and interfacing to other essential systems, including PPMIS (Mine Suite), LIMS (StarLIMS) and Information Technology

- Experience with processes:
- Crushing, Washing and screening, Material handling, Beneficiation (Jigging, WHIMS & Cyclones) and Water recovery flow lines and Sampling Plants
- Understand unit operations and interfacing with vendor packages e.g. Gyratory / Cone / HPGR Crushers, Stackers, BW Reclaimers, Thickeners and Loadout stations
- Compilation and implementation of control philosophies

Appointment: Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.
Housing: The Company encourages private home ownership, but the allocation thereof is subject to the rules of the Housing Policy.
The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company’s Code of Practice – Minimum standards of fitness to perform work at a Mine. He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment.
The abovementioned position is D1 on the Patterson band grading system. The successful candidate that onforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading. Should the successful candidate not conform with all said requirements and experience, but are nonetheless regarded as suitable for appointment to the position, he/she will be appointed on a lower more appropriate grading, until successful achievement of required competencies and skills.
