Specialist Environmental

Please note that this position is based in Dwaalboom.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12
• Degree in Environmental Management or related fields
• Valid driver’s License

EXPERIENCE:

• Understanding of all applicable and relevant environmental legislation.
• At least 3 years’ experience in the field of environmental management in a Mining(Open cast) or Manufacturing environment, working with authorities;
• Ability to work with employees at all levels a requirement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the environmental and sustainability discipline including amongst others
• Identify and resolve environmental problems systematically.
• Drive authorisation/permit applications and conversions.
• Ensure operations’ s environmental legal compliance.
• Monitor and Report on the sustainability indicators.
• Input into Disaster recovery and business continuity programmes.
• Develop specific environmental management programmes (EMPs).
• Monitor the progress of programmes and action plans through audits.
• Document and communicate monitoring results to Group Sustainability and Environment
• Manager.
• Air Quality (point source and ambient) management.
• Water management and monitoring (groundwater, storm water).
• Waste management in accordance with legal requirements (DEFF).
• Interpretation of all monitoring results and classification of risks.
• Raise awareness to (educate and train) role players on environmental requirements and
• challenges.
• Implement and maintenance of Environmental Management systems (ISO 14001),
• Manage records and documents and other ISO14001 related documents.
• Oversee the rehabilitation in line with the commitments of the EMP.
• Investigations and research regarding environmental issues.
• Environmental stakeholder management and engagements relations.
