SUMMARY:
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced professional to provide high-level litigation support as a Senior Litigation Secretary. You will be a key player in the smooth running of daily operations – from managing complex diaries and client communications through to preparing impeccably formatted High Court pleadings. This is a fast-paced, high-pressure role that requires exceptional dictation typing skills, a proactive mindset, and a genuine commitment to excellence and long-term stability to be based in Cape Town.

POSITION INFO:
Position: Senior Litigation Secretary

Location: Somerset West, Cape Town, Western Cape

Employment Type: 1 Month Temp
Salary: R20 000 – R30 000 per month based on 173.333 hours per month

Minimum Qualifying Criteria:

5+ years’ experience as a Legal Secretary in a reputable law firm (commercial litigation essential)
Extensive dictation typing experience in a legal environment
Languages: English, with impeccable grammar, proofreading and document formatting skills
Exceptional speed and accuracy in dictation typing.
A proven track record of stability and long-term commitment, this role requires someone seeking to grow with the firm over the next 10–15 years.
Experience working with advocates and understanding similar workflows would be ideal
Energetic team-player with resilience, professionalism, initiative and a good sense of humour
German language skills would be advantageous

Key Responsibilities

Transcribe and format audio dictations quickly and accurately – this is essential to the role (minimum 60–70 wpm typing speed required, though higher speeds are strongly preferred).
Prepare, edit, and manage legal documents and case files for High Court commercial litigation
Provide full PA support to the partner, including diary and travel management
Handle client liaison and correspondence with professionalism and discretion
Prioritise tasks in a high-pressure environment with exceptional organisation skills
Work collaboratively with counsel, clients, and key stakeholders
