The Storeman at Royal Malewane Lodges controls the receipt, storage and issuing of various stock items across the lodges to ensure the smooth running of the property, ensuring that we are able to live up to the purpose of The Royal Portfolio, which is "To give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay".
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurate and timely handling of stock ensures that guest-facing departments (kitchen, housekeeping, spa, etc.) are never left short, enabling seamless service delivery
- Checks and unpacks deliveries, ensures items match the delivery note, and captures them correctly on the system so that all stock is recorded accurately
- Issues stock to departments based on approved requests, ensuring the right items and quantities are given and recorded in the system or stock sheet
- Supports cost control by handling goods carefully, reducing stock discrepancies, and following proper ordering and issuing procedures
- Finding better ways to organise stock, reduce waste and streamline stockroom processes to save time and improve accuracy
- Promotes environmentally friendly practices by minimising wastage, re-using materials where possible, and ensuring proper disposal of packaging
- Helps monitor stock levels and informs the Stock Controller when items need to be re-ordered, ensuring there is always enough stock on hand without over-ordering
- Keeps storerooms clean, tidy, and well-organised, with items properly labelled and stored in the right place, making it easy to find and count stock
- Takes part in monthly stock counts, ensuring that all items are counted carefully and correctly, and helps the Stock Controller investigate any differences
- Communicates well with colleagues, showing reliability, and being open to feedback and learning
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Basic computer literacy training (especially Excel and stock and POS systems)
- Previous experience in a storeroom or stock-handling environment
- Basic understanding of stock rotation (FIFO)
- Work experience in hospitality, retail, or food & beverage operations
- Numeracy skills – able to count and manage quantities accurately
- Attention to detail – careful when checking deliveries and recording stock
- Organisational skills – able to keep storerooms neat and stock well categorised
- Time management – completes daily tasks promptly and reliably
- Communication skills – works well with the Stock Controller and other departments
- Integrity and reliability – trusted to handle stock and company assets responsibly
It is important that the candidate is able to work as part of a team and is a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous.
A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
