Group Assurance Actuary: SuperFund and SME

A vacancy exists for a senior actuary in Group Assurance to support the Group Assurance Executive and Head of Group Risk Actuarial. The incumbent will be responsible for the integrated risk offering to the SuperFund, as well as the small and medium sized segment of GAP customers, with a focus on the setting and maintenance of technical pricing bases.

The role is a senior GAP management role with representation on its Management Board – thereby ensuring that the incumbent is in a strong position to influence the strategy of group assurance business. The incumbent will be expected to interact with clients and stakeholders at all levels, and will drive the current and future product strategy.

The incumbent will be expected to interact with clients, intermediaries and internal stakeholders at all levels. Core responsibilities of the role will include:

Give input into GAP’s functional and product strategy

Performing regular mortality and morbidity experience investigations to feed into the pricing bases

Development and maintenance of pricing bases for full suite of group risk products

Provide technical oversight and support, i.t.o. group risk products in particular, to marketing, proposition, finance and servicing areas

Contribute to the design of the new operating model between GAP and Superfund, as well as relevant product development initiatives

Performing the annual Superfund rate review

Quarterly reporting to SuperFund on the performance of SuperFund risk products

Assisting SuperFund team on quotes and client queries

Regular interaction & presentations to Superfund trustee board and front office teams

Pricing of group risk arrangements

Training & development of junior actuarial students

Requirements:

Qualified actuary

At least 10 years of actuarial experience; of which ate least 6 is with group risk products or umbrella funds

Exposure to products or pricing roles would be an advantage

Experience in managing actuarial teams

Strong business acumen

Ability to run projects independently

The ability to manage several projects and priorities at the same time

Strong communication skills

Ability to work across teams and collaborate with various stakeholders

Ability to think different in developing client-centric solutions

Education
FASSA): Actuarial Science, Fellow of The Institute of Actuaries: Actuarial Science
