Structural Engineering (HOD)

SUMMARY:
A leading and successful Consultancy in Cape Town is seeking a Professional Structural Engineer to lead their Structures division the Property Sector. The ideal candidate has been appointed on Director or Principal Associate level before and has vast experience in the Property Sector with a strong client base.

POSITION INFO:

Will be responsible to manage Junior and senior staff

Will be responsible and accountable for the successful performance of the structures division

Will be responsible to lead a team of Engineers

Must be excellent at client liason, gaining clients respect and trust and understanding client needs

Must be capable of completing all types of Projects from inception to close out independently

Preparing accurate and concise designs, design calculations, budgets, tender specifications, performing project financial control, construction monitoring and project management throughout all stages of project

Responsible for setting up client/consultant fee/ contract agreements and effective management of professional fees on all projects

Collaborating and working with multi-disciplinary team of engineers on a project while leading in the design process and co-ordination

Skills & Experience:

Project management experience

Ability to cope and thrive in a high pressure environment

Experience in working on projects in Africa

Excellent project and time management skills

Must be a team player and able to work independently

Proven business leadership capabilities and strong financial acumen

Good reputation in the Industry and a strong client base

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing and communicating effectively with other Engineering professionals and clients

Excellent knowledge of building standards and codes

Vast experience with Building contracts for building services Industry (PROCSA. JBCC, FIDIC, NEC, etc )

Experience and confident in dealing with contractual matters

Excellent on Microsoft Office

Strong knowledge of the steel industry and structural steel optimized designs, especially Industrial warehousing

Minimum of 15 years’ Consulting Engineering experience in the Property and Building Sector

Qualification: 

BSc / BEng Civil Engineering

Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng)

Willingness to travel within South Africa and Africa

Valid SA passport

Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
