JOB DESCRIPTION:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to provide humanising student-centred and staff support. Through consultative engagement the position will provide ITS system and sub-systems training to staff and students to solve problems, manage change, improve efficiency and ensure the effective and efficient execution of functions in the broader Academic Administration (AA) where required

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Provide and perform efficient and effective ITS student system and sub-system training and support to new and existing individuals and/or groups.
  • Humanising consultative engagement with academics, students and administrative staff to advice and resolve queries regarding the ITS student system and sub-system.
  • Provide efficient and effective support and training to all ITS users regarding changes and or upgrades to student systems and sub-systems.
  • Provide support in the development of automated/digitalization of computer systems and new technologies.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of university and academic administration rules, policies, procedures and systems.
  • Strong ability to manage and perform functions concurrently, although different in nature, while working to tight deadlines under stressful circumstances on a continuous basis including planning, organizing and quality assurance.
  • Strong ability to work independently within a diverse team to build relationships in order to gain cooperation from staff and students.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to independently identify, evaluate, propose or decide on scenarios to resolve complex academic administration matters.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the ITS student system and sub-systems including general computer skills.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' relevant experience at a Higher Education Institution and working experience in an IT administrative environment
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to avail themselves for psychometric testing which would inform the shortlisting and/or contribute towards the interview process.
