SUMMARY:
Calling all Studio Coordinators on the East Rand
POSITION INFO:
My client, a leading and well-known company based in Modderfontein (East Rand), requires a competent and experienced Studio Coordinator to join their team.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
- Coordinate the photography workflow, ensuring it is managed efficiently and effectively and projects are followed, details are not forgotten, work gets done on time and issues handled before they become a problem.
- Improve productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination and assisting the studio photographers with admin requirements
- Communicate daily between Studio, Sourcing and other relevant departments to ensure a smooth photography workflow.
- Coordinate bookings for the creative studios including handling briefs from clients, preparing quotations and on-site management and oversight when the studios are being utilised
Requirements:
- Minimum Matric but tertiary qualification would be beneficial
- Must be criminal clear
- 3 yo 5 years experience in a similar role
- SA Citizens only
- Must reside in the Greater Johannesburg area
Knowledge and Experience:
Strong administration, communication and project management skills are critical. Experience in a product photography studio environment is an advantage.
To effectively handle the daily administration of the studio (photography, retouching, creative) as well as the communication with other departments to ensure that all studio jobs are managed efficiently and effectively.

Key Performance Areas:
Workflow
- Ensure communication gets filtered through to the studio areas (photo, retouching, QA and creative) in a timeous manner.
- Daily feedback on jobs, projects, productions to Head of Studio
- Assist in communicating deadlines
- Feedback and Reporting: Keep all relevant parties involved on jobs / project / production status
- Ensuring ticket / brief instructions are filtered through to the relevant studio areas.
- Keep Projects on track
- Work with freelancers and contractors and ensure they have the resources needed for their jobs
- Meet with the heads of departments to learn about the status of existing projects, and details about new projects coming into the studio areas
- Review current and future timelines and job statuses with the heads of department, and if necessary, the individuals working on the jobs.
- Assist in the workflow planning of Photography for upcoming Projects/ Campaigns.
- Project follow-through and execution.
Communication:
- Responsible for clear and relevant / targeted communication between departments on projects, issues, or concerns in and out of the studio area.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders
- Set up regular internal meetings with brands / retail to ensure studio areas are up to date with client feedback.
Creative Style Guides:
- Assist in maintaining the client specific style guides and communicate the implementation thereof.
- Assist in keeping the internal stakeholders up to date with style guides – communicate.
- Ensure the correct props and methods are clear and communicate to sourcing regarding style guide specs.
Creative Bookings and Shoots:
- Co-ordinate the Creative Studio Calendar and monthly Creative bookings spreadsheet for billing.
- Co-ordinate bookings for external creative retouching.
- Co-ordinate client creative shoots.
