We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Technician to join our team at the Soetwater & Karusa Wind Farms. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP), which includes daily inspections, testing, service, and monitoring of high-voltage substations and overhead line systems (Loop-in Loop-out to the 132kV mainline).
You will also be responsible for monitoring the power plant using the client’s system, recording all operational activity, and submitting weekly reports to the Project Manager for review and delivery to the client.
This is a site-based role requiring relocation or residence near one of the following areas: Garob, Soetwater, or Karusa.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct daily visual inspections of HV substations and associated infrastructure.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on EBOP components, including MV/HV substation and LILO overhead lines.

Monitor system performance using client-provided monitoring platforms.

Log and report all operational issues and events on an ongoing basis.

Prepare and submit weekly technical reports to the Project Manager.

Ensure all safety, OH&S, and procedural guidelines are followed.

Serve as the primary technical contact and trusted advisor on-site.

Support upgrades, fault response, and optimization of equipment performance.

Maintain safety and cleanliness standards within substations and work zones.
Requirements:

Valid Red Seal Artisan Certificate (Trade Test) with completed apprenticeship and minimum N2 qualification.

Minimum 3 years of experience working with Medium to High Voltage systems (e.g. 3.3kV, 6.6kV, 11kV, 33kV).

Valid (or recently expired) ORHVS Certificate and accreditation as a Responsible Person.

Proven understanding of EBOP operations and maintenance in HV transmission environments.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and technical drawings.

Strong written communication skills, especially in report writing.

Valid driver’s license.
Desirable Attributes:

Prior experience working in live substation environments.

Valid medical certificate of fitness.
-
Familiarity with Construction Regulations and industry safety protocols.
-
ECSA registration (advantageous).
-
Previous work on wind farms or renewable energy infrastructure.
