System Engineer

POSITION INFO:
A giant in financial services based in the northern suburbs is looking for a System Engineer to join their team on a 12 months contract basis. Role Overview: The successful candidate will provide specialist technical expertise and support in installing, testing, tuning, optimising, diagnosing problems, repairing, upgrading and maintaining both externally and internally supplied hardware and systems software (operating systems, data management products, office automation products, embedded systems and other utility enabling software and related equipment. Key Responsibilities (not limited to): Install, configure, and maintain both externally and internally supplied hardware and systems software, including Linux operating systems, data management products, office automation, and embedded systems. Perform system tuning and optimization to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability. Diagnose and resolve issues related to system performance, software, and hardware failures in a timely manner. Carry out system upgrades, patches, and repairs to maintain system integrity and security. Manage and administer Linux systems, specifically Red Hat Linux, and handle related system administration tasks on other distributions like SUSE, Ubuntu, and Debian. Manage virtualization environments, including ZVM Systems and VMware. Provide support for cloud infrastructure, including Azure and AWS environments. Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Education: Completed Bachelors Degree in related field Experience and Skills: 3 -5 years experience working on Linux Proven exposure to ZVM systems, Red hat Linux, Satellite, VMware, Azure, AWS, Chef This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is passionate about digital projects and client success.
