The Tax Accountant will be required to deliver support and guidance to operations with regards to tax.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric Certificate with Math’s (Math’s Literacy is not sufficient); and
• Relevant Accounting / Financial degree and a Higher Diploma in Tax.
• Minimum Three Years Accounting and Tax experience;
• Onesource tax system experience;
• MCom with SAIT articles (not required but very beneficial)
• Excellent financial acumen;
• The candidate must be able to communicate effectively;
• Ability to multi-task and prioritise;
• Customer service orientated;
• Speed and accuracy with attention to detail;
• Numerical ability and data entry skills;
• Deadline driven; and
• Problem solving

Performance Areas (Responsibilities):

The Assistant Tax Analyst duties shall include, but not be limited to:

• SARS Administration – this includes: Submission and completion of; Monthly VAT returns for holding company and major subsidiaries; Provisional tax returns; Tax clearance certificate applications; Entity registration for tax references; Compiling the VAT audit file and Attending to SARS queries.
• Tax Software system (Thomson Reuters Onesource) – this includes:Uploading trial balances on tax software system (Thomson Reuters)-Group; Uploading the trial balance for the sales elimination (Operations);Ensure that the Operations deferred tax is in balance and reporting on it;Review of tax schedules on Onesource to ensure completeness of information and schedules in balance with Trial Balance;Matching of key number (retained earnings, Net Profit or Loss before Taxation, Deferred Tax) between Onesource and Smart;Assisting the Operations with queries on Onesource and Management of the Tax software system.
• Tax – This includes: Preparation of Learnership schedules for a major subsidiary;Review of tax packs (Group);Supplying Auditors with tax information during audit;Assisting Operations with technical Tax, VAT & Customs queries;Prepare the Tax Reconciliation of the Operations for Outlook and half year reporting;Customs re-registration process and Assisting the Tax Compliance Officer with adhoc queries.
