POSITION INFO:
Position Overview: The Tax Administrator will be responsible for supporting the tax department in managing the company’s tax compliance and reporting functions, ensuring that all South African tax obligations are met in a timely and accurate manner. The role involves processing tax-related documentation, submitting tax returns, and liaising with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) to resolve queries. The Tax Administrator will play a crucial role in ensuring the company’s compliance with local tax laws.

Minimum requirements:

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

•  A National Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field.
• A certificate in Taxation (e.g., from the South African Institute of Tax Professionals – SAIT) would be beneficial.
• A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a tax administration or tax compliance role.
• Solid understanding of South African tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, SDL, and UIF.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Experience working with SARS submissions, SARS eFiling and responding to SARS queries is essential.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and other accounting or tax software; familiarity with SARS eFiling is a must.

• Completion of SARS registrations for all tax types.
• Application for remittance of penalties for all tax types.
• Application for deregistration for all tax types.
• RP6 preparation and submission.
• Income tax calculations for individuals and companies.
• Preparation and submission of ITR12 and ITR14 returns.
• Ensuring all tax returns have been assessed and reconciliation of assessment to income tax calculation.
• Tax clearance certificates: Good Standing & Approval for International Transfer (AIT).
• Compiling income and expenses schedules for clients.
• Uploading of supporting documentation for audit or verification purposes on eFiling.
• Completion and follow up on objections for all tax types.
• Update registered details for individuals and companies.

• Manage and maintain the tax department’s eFiling system, ensuring all tax-related documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
• Keep track of important deadlines related to tax submissions and ensure compliance with filing requirements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tax correspondence, filings, and payments.
• Updating and maintaining accurate client list.
• Updating and maintaining accurate client records on all platforms.

• Assist in the preparation of documentation for tax planning purposes, including supporting the team with tax-efficient structures or strategies.
• Provide administrative support for tax-related projects, including conducting research into new or changing tax laws and regulations.

• Provide regular updates to the Tax Manager on the status of tax filings and any issues that may arise.
• Support audits by providing relevant tax documentation and responding to queries.
• Communicate tax-related information effectively to internal stakeholders, including the finance and payroll teams.

• Correspond with SARS on behalf of the company for the resolution of any tax-related queries or disputes.
• Monitor SARS correspondence (e.g., assessments, refunds, or penalties) and take appropriate action where necessary.
• Assist with the management of SARS disputes.
• Visiting SARS for clients' queries with regards to banking details, refunds, reallocation of funds etc.
• Book meetings with SARS, when necessary.

• Stay up-to-date with changes in South African tax law and regulations, and communicate these updates to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
• Assist in researching tax matters, including legislative changes, court rulings, and SARS policies, to support clients in remaining compliant.
