Tax Director

SUMMARY:
My Client in the Audit and Accounting sector is currently seeking a Tax Director to perform the compliance responsibilities of the Tax Department. The incumbent must have 8+ years’ experience in a specialist Tax role. Please see the performance area criteria below for a more detailed description of the required responsibilities.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• BCom/ H Dip Tax
• 8 - 10 years+ Specialist Tax experience
• Microsoft Office; Finsolve Tax Planner; Accfin; Electronic Tax Library - Butterworths
• Relevant Legislation experience
• Ability to deal with SARS at a senior level
• Management experience
• High degree of numeracy and literacy skills
• Legal interpretation skills

Performance Areas (Responsibilities):

Consulting:

• Assisting clients, partners, and staff with tax related issues
• Dealing with complex tax queries from SARS
• Liaising with senior SARS officials
• Dispute resolution process with SARS (Objection/Appeal process)
• Assist with national Tax booklet
• Attend national Tax Partners meetings
• Brief attorneys/advocates when tax dispute reaches court level
• Keep up to date with Tax knowledge

Administration/Compliance:

• Overall responsibility for Tax compliance dept
• Staff Recruitment, Retention, Training and Development
• Commissioner of Oaths
