Team Leader-Cashier (Centurion) - FMCG

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An exciting job opportunity exists within our Centurion Retail Store for a Team-Leader Cashier to join the team.

The purpose of the Job for the ideal candidate is:

To be responsible, and be kept accountable for all till transactions that is performed whilst on duty, and this, coupled with maintaining and building a world class customer experience.
To work closely with store managers and other cashiers to ensure a positive experience for customers visiting the store.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 / Matric (Minimum Requirement).

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience in a customer service position or a minimum of 6 months cashier retail experience.
Previous experience managing a team would be an advantage.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Knowledge of point-of-sale systems

SKILLS REQUIRED:

English Proficiency (read, write and speak).
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
Ability to stand, walk, lift heavy items, and work with other team members in a fast-paced environment to provide excellent customer service.
Basic mathematical and computer skills.
High level of energy with strong customer service skills.
Excellent Time Management Skills.
Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.
Stocktake participation to the highest level due to counting and accuracy the position requires.
Assist in the merchandising of products with the FIFO principle in dedicated areas in the store.
Ability to work in cold environments.

JOB ACTIVITIES:

1. Customer Service

Greet and welcome customers in a friendly and polite manner.
Resolve customer complaints promptly and ask for Supervisor/Manager assistance if matter cannot be resolved.
Answer customer questions about the Company’s products.
Ask every customer if they were able to purchase all the items that they intended to buy.
Make customers aware about promotions – nationally and in-store.

2. Transactions

Accepting payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate and proving a receipt to every customer.
Processing refunds and exchanges and check to see if a product is damaged.
Following all store procedures regarding coupons, gift cards, or the purchasing of products.
Handle all cash, credit, or check transactions with customers.
Handle and accurately carry out Staff Account transactions.

3. Work Station

Maintaining a clean workspace.
Ensuring that you have all the items available in the morning before the day starts. (e.g enough till/speed point rolls, plastic bags etc).
Bagging or wrapping purchases to ensure safe transport.

4. Employee Management

Overseeing of 4-6 staff members.
Reporting to the Retail Manager and Retail Assistant Manager daily.
Ensuring that all required standards are adhered to.
Responsible to set and maintain requirement standards for staff in the relevant departments.
Employee Recruitment – may be involved as and when required.
Onboarding of new staff and providing training and development efforts.
Employee wellness and motivation.

5. Other

Always conduct yourself in a professional manner, including appropriate and professional attire, language and treatment of colleagues, customers, and management.
Ensure the correct uniform and badge are always worn.
Adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures, SOPs, and OHS Regulations.
Work your scheduled hours by showing up on time, taking scheduled breaks and finishing within the allocated time frame.
Any ad-hoc (other) duties and responsibilities as and when required.
Completing prescribed tasks and responsibilities as requested by Management in other areas and departments within the store, including but not limited to Stocktake, Merchandising and Cleaning.
