Team Leaders – Civil Projects required to be based in Graaf Reinet x 2; Queenstown x 2 and East London x2. This is a 3-month contract position

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The main duty of this position is to lead teams in the installation of aerial and civil fibre projects.

This post, Team Leader - Civil Projects, within the Growth Division’s purpose is:

The coordination of all infrastructure installation functions which include the management of small teams, the planning of the installation of aerial and civil works, as part of a team reporting to a Site Supervisor as the immediate manager.

This function is performance based and will refer to specific targets that must be achieved in order to meet job requirements.

This entails the following activities:

Arranging and scheduling of aerial pole planting, aerial fibre stringing as well as all Civil Works Project Teams.

ranging and scheduling installations.

Managing team tools for installations.

Ensure quality installations.

Manage installation spending costs to ensure saving.

Continuous Progress Reporting to Site Managers.

On-site Client Liaison.

Stock / Material Management and distribution thereof.

Quickly determine implementation priorities.

Ensure that all installation risks are identified and communicated with the team and Site Managers.

Tracking resource usage and progress against daily targets and completing timesheets.

Ensure that Health and Safety rules are always adhered to, and that site and workers are safe.

Sign and complete Job Cards.

Vehicle and Tool Management – all damages and losses must be reported immediately.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

Technical training considered an asset.

Experience using FO troubleshooting tools (i.e., OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.).

A valid driver’s license is required with a clean driving record.

Customer service skills.

Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including, but not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels).

Self-disciplined, motivated and organized.

Effective planning skills.

Management skills.

Education Requirements:

Grade 12 is required.

Applicable Health and Safety Certification is an advantage.
