POSITION INFO:

A superb career opportunity has arisen with an established leader in crop nutrition. The focus of the role will be on providing provide highly specialised in-field nutritional support and expert knowledge to the Crop Advisors, Advisory Team and Regional Sales Managers to enhance customer sales.

The scope of the role will include:

• Development of crop programs (soil-applied and foliar nutrition).
• Adherence to MRL guidelines and label recommendations.
• Use of crop programmes and technical support services to drive sales strategies in the region.
• Monitoring the correct implementation of recommendations.
• Carrying out regular crop inspections during season.
• Performing relevant trials on specific crops in collaboration with the Portfolio Managers to build knowledge and confidence in products.
• Organising training workshops for Crop Advisors.
• Working as part of a team to devise sales strategies and budgets.
• Interacting with key influencers in industry to promote nutritional products and grow existing client base.
• Acting on leads for new products or new programmes.
• Conforming to relevant SHEQ rules and regulations as per company policy.

Requirements:

• A B Agric or BSc Agriculture degree
• Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in the agricultural industry in  crop nutrition and/or agrochemicals and/or agriculture
• Crop Expertise: One or more of the crops grown in the Western Cape, e.g. Pome and Stone Fruit, Citrus, Table and Wine grapes and Small grains.
• BASOS accreditation and prepared to work towards acquiring AVCASA within a reasonable period of time.
• Excellent  customer relationship skills.
• Proven technical and agrochemical knowledge.
• Computer literate MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook, knowledge of .NET would be advantageous).
• Sound working knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental practices.
• Able to travel to support all allocated Crop Advisors and service cross-border clients, if required, as well as in possession of a valid driver’s license, have own reliable transport and be  medically fit to drive.
• Very strong communication (verbal and written), planning, organisation, presentation, technical, people skills and presentation skills.
• Fluency in both English and Afrikaans is a prerequisite.
