POSITION INFO:
My client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Technical Buyer to join their Procurement team in Port Elizabeth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a leading international engineering and services environment where innovation, quality, and collaboration drive success. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring technical equipment, materials, and services, while working closely with engineering and project teams to ensure operational efficiency. This is an open EE position, and remuneration will be based on experience.

Education:

• National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in technical procurement or a similar role.
• Strong technical acumen with the ability to interpret technical drawings/specifications.
• Solid organisational and analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of SAP (advantageous).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• Source and purchase technical equipment, materials, and services in line with project specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to evaluate technical requirements.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers, negotiate pricing, and secure favourable terms.
• Review and interpret technical drawings, data sheets, and documentation.
• Conduct cost analyses to ensure value for money.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and company policies.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and reports.
• Track orders, manage delivery timelines, and resolve supply chain issues.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and vendors.
• Work independently and within a team, prioritising tasks effectively.
• Uphold ethical standards and promote integrity and transparency in procurement practices.
