Technical Director Water Treatment

SUMMARY:

An innovative water technology company is seeking the above to provide strategic direction and drive the execution of technology and financial growth aspirations, creating a value-added technical capability for the organization, which will increase market share within existing and new markets.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a BSc/MSc in Industrial Chemistry / Engineering
• A business qualification, ideally an MBA would be advantageous
• Must have minimum 10 years related experience in Water Treatment Technologies and applications for Mining, AMD, Industrial and Public Water
• Minimum 5 years in a strategic role reporting to Exco / MD is essential
• Previous experience in mining and industrial processes, including boiler water, cooling water towers, membranes treatment, solid/liquid separation techniques, monitoring and control solutions, water reuse/repurpose projects, effluent treatment etc. will be required
• An in-depth understanding of the SDG and Sustainability Goals, OHS Act, Competition act, Companies act, Labour act, Department of Trade and Industry procedures affecting the divisional area is important
• Commercial contracting expertise at a strategic level with respect to, pricing, delivering key performance areas, liabilities and industrial / labour relations will be required

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing and implementing technology strategies and operational plans.
• Increasing the technology capabilities, coverage and market applications.
• Enhancing customer relationships (internal/external) in view of improving the brand.
• Actively contributing to projects for improved water security on the continent which in turn assist in accelerated growth expectations.
• Ensuring the service contracts and interfaces between the technical division and the sales support functions of the company are effective and efficient.
• Performing divisional risk assessment and defining mitigation actions.
• Observing and ensuring compliance with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and practices.
• Complying with Safety, Health and Environment standards.
• Ensuring “License to Operate” is maintained through legal and Company Standard Compliance.
• Effectively representing the company in relations and negotiations with customers, suppliers, other associated companies, regulatory agencies, professional societies and Government Departments.
• Forecasting annual capital and operational expenses in line with corporate policy.
