SUMMARY:
Technical Manager- Biologicals (Western Cape)

POSITION INFO:
A leading agrochemical solution provider in South Africa currently has a senior role available for a Technical Manager- Biologicals, to be based in the Western Cape.
 
The focus of this role will be to manage the team and site producing mother cultures and to further new product development and the biologicals marketing strategy.
 
Duties will include:
 

• Regularly engage with the Biological Technical Team to ensure flow of knowledge.
• Manage the team and processes responsible for maintaining viable mother cultures of mycorrhizae and Trichoderma.
• Monitor sales and prepare sales reports.
• Drive sales strategy alongside key stakeholders, i.e. Regional Managers, Agents, Technical Advisors and Agronomists.
• Engage with the design and management of product presentations (packaging, etc).
• New product development (trials, engaging with DAFF and other key stakeholders).
• New market development.
• Technical support (Farmers and Agent days, training, brochures, presentations etc.)
• Support the customer feedback process.

• Provide input on new budget planning with the Financial team.
• Provide input on product costing.

• Assisting with product logistics (such as supporting the logistical positioning of products).
• Participate and assist to maintain SHEQ Management Systems certifications/standards.
• Ensure total compliance and adherence to all SHEQ rules and regulations as per company policy.

• A relevant B.Sc or M.Sc. qualification
• An additional Management/Supervisory skills Diploma preferred
• At least 8 to 10 years of experience in the agrochemical field showing progression to management level
• Advanced knowledge of soil microbials and micro-organisms
• Strong staff management experience
• Computer literate MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint and Outlook) as well as statistical programme for Labs.
• Able to work independently as well as within a team, be deadline driven and use own initiative.
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written), planning, organisational, presentation, report writing, people and customer relationship skills.
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license, have own reliable transport and be medically fit to drive.
• Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems (e.g. ISO) standards and requirements advantageous.
• Strong analytical and interpretive skills with the ability to solve problems systematically.
• Sound business and financial acumen.
