Technical Sales Engineer – Underground Mining

An established engineering company supplying innovative equipment and technical solutions to the underground mining industry is looking for an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join its growing team.
This role is ideal for a technically minded sales professional who understands underground mining operations and enjoys building long-term customer relationships while providing value-driven engineering solutions.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with underground mining customers. Promote and sell engineering equipment, components, and technical solutions to mines and mining contractors. Conduct regular customer visits to underground mining operations and head offices. Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and tenders. Interpret customer requirements and recommend suitable engineering solutions. Deliver product presentations and technical demonstrations. Work closely with engineering, production, and service teams to ensure successful project execution. Provide after-sales support and resolve technical queries. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and new business opportunities. Achieve sales targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Compile sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates. Travel extensively to customer sites across South Africa and neighbouring countries when required. Minimum Requirements National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering qualification. 3-8 years' experience in a Technical Sales Engineer or Sales Engineer role. Proven experience selling engineering products or equipment into the underground mining sector. Strong exposure to underground mining operations and mining production environments. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Experience preparing quotations, tenders, and technical proposals. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively. Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems. Advantageous Experience supplying equipment to hard rock or coal mining operations. Knowledge of underground mining equipment, hydraulic systems, conveyors, pumps, valves, or mechanical components. Existing network within major mining houses and mining contractors. Experience with capital equipment or engineered solutions sales. Key Competencies Strong commercial and business acumen.
