Technical Services Chemist - Chemical Manufacturing

SUMMARY:
An International Industrial Chemical Manufacturing Company requires the above to problem solve, conduct line trials, implement new technologies and train customers, complying with defined EHS and quality procedures.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• A tertiary qualification or diploma in Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry or related is essential.
• Previous experience having worked as a Chemist or related in an Analytical Laboratory is essential.
• Previous experience having worked in surface treatment related technical service and problem-solving at Customer level or similar type of service-related industry is preferred.
• The successful candidate must have a proven track record and experience in wet chemistry analysis and general laboratory equipment e.g., pH, conductivity, UV VIS spectrometers and ISE systems.
• The successful candidate must have a proven track record on ICP-OES, IC and FTIR and setting up of test methods.
• The successful candidate must be skilled in good laboratory practice and have knowledge of ISO 9001 systems.
• The successful candidate must be Microsoft Office proficient.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Operate analytical instruments such as ICP-OES, IC and FTIR and assist with development of test methods.
• Problem solve at Customers, conduct line trials and implement new technologies at Customers.
• Test samples from Customers and the manufacturing facility.
• Conduct routine checking on formulations and product data.
• Prepare laboratory samples, testing solutions and indicators as and when required.
• Comply with defined EHS and quality procedures.
• Assist with general report writing when required to do so.
• Update the laboratory request form file and receive samples.
• Provide customer training on sample analysis.
• Stop any shipment or production to correct quality and report and stop any process and use of equipment posing a threat to the safety and health of any employee and the environment.
• Provide suggestions to problem solving in relation to corrective action in connection with Customer samples.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
