POSITION INFO:

Our client in the EdTech space requires a product-focused Senior Backend Engineer to lead our Backend development team. As Technical Team Lead  (Backend), you will work closely with a team of 3 Backend Engineers providing oversight into key deliverables.

Overall, you will be joining a team of 27 members, including Product Managers, Product Designers, Frontend, Backend, Web & Mobile Engineers as well as QA Engineers. Our goal is to ship quickly and iteratively as we deliver continuous value to our customers.

The team functions using agile methodologies and is very high on ownership and collaboration. If you are ambitious and interested in solving complex problems, then we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Have a solid understanding of key computer science concepts
• Have 5 years’ minimum experience developing scalable backend solutions using PHP
• Have at least 3 years’ experience building applications using js and Next.js
• Ability to work in an agile, extremely fast-paced environment
• Have the ability to balance speed with writing scalable, efficient code
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Experience using the MVVM (Model View View Model) architecture
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills which includes the ability to write clear documentation and design process
• Have experience leading a team of high-performing Engineers
• Have a clear track record of being able to coach and mentor Engineers
• Experience in Edtech and gaming is a plus

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related technical
• At least 6 years of production experience working with Laravel Mastery of core features and extensive knowledge of Js-based services.
• Solid grasp of Jobs and Messaging Queues
• In depth understanding of relational databases [MySQL] and query optimization
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML and front-end
