SUMMARY:
New role is available for a Temp Project Engineer for our client in the Automotive Industry, based in Kariega Eastern Cape.
POSITION INFO:
To plan, design, develop, and introduce the provision, modification, and maintenance of material handling facilities, transport solutions, packaging, processes, and systems to ensure optimal material flow from source to point of use.
This role supports Production, P&A, Localisation, and Export projects in achieving their scheduled targets.
It further involves analyzing, maintaining, and controlling various Logistics Planning Contracts through close liaison with the necessary Group departments and external contractors, with the objective of reducing costs and continuously improving control methods.
Possible Tasks Within This Role
- Conceiving, preparing, and implementing detailed logistics material flow concepts for production and warehouse environments to achieve optimal solutions.
- Preparing detailed layouts, drawings, and job specifications for specialized facilities or logistics services using the latest technological solutions.
- Designing, developing, and procuring logistics facilities such as stillages, pallets, dunnages, trolleys, racking, general storage facilities, and packaging based on analysis of requirements for new projects or production requests.
- Preparing comprehensive project plans to coordinate and monitor project progress.
- Preparing clear specifications for the RFQ process to obtain quotations from contractors or service providers.
- Evaluating and adjudicating quotations, and negotiating with suppliers where necessary to improve or optimize specifications and/or pricing.
- Preparing appropriation requests to justify and secure funding for projects.
- Preparing and issuing purchase requisitions.
- Arranging and overseeing project, facility, or service acceptance and hand-over, including demonstrations or physical trials.
- Preparing budget pricing for corporate projects, cost studies, parts localization plans, and export initiatives.
- Developing and introducing packaging specifications for production parts.
- Consulting with stakeholders to draft and update logistics service contract specifications.
- Convening and chairing meetings with relevant role players to execute projects, functions, or tasks.
Qualification RequirementsExperience Needed- 3 years’ experience with logistics processes in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- 2 years’ experience as a Project Engineer in Logistics Planning or a comparable planning environment.
Essentials- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision and handling pressure effectively.
- Strong planning, organizing, and decision-making abilities to meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to produce, understand, and interpret 3D CAD drawings.
- Full computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and advanced Excel skills.
Added Advantage- Experience with SAP systems in Supply Chain Management.
