Southern Oil Pty Ltd, an established company and market leader in the manufacturing of Canola oil and related products in the retail, food services and bulk sectors, has the following exciting career opportunity in Blackheath.

POSITION INFO:

Short Summary:

The Plant Manager will oversee the staff and the equipment they operate on the factory floor. He/ she will be responsible for contributing to and carrying out production strategy decisions. Technical experience will need to be gained with the equipment. The Plant Manager must schedule plant and equipment maintenance as needed to ensure that all production orders are completed in a timely manner. He/ she will need to ensure that quality standards are met and that the safety/ industry related regulations are adhered too.

Responsibilities:

Overseeing the Plant, staff, Boiler Operator and Drivers.
Managing Driver Schedules.
Managing customer product specification and overseeing blends.
Managing boiler efficiency and operational machinery maintenance.
Managing outside housekeeping and vehicle maintenance.
Liaise with Customers and Suppliers.
Training staff relating to safety and operational requirements.
Prepare production reports and maintenance reports.
Regularly review finished products to determine whether they meet established quality standards.
Any and ad hoc functions required to assist performance enhancement of the business.

Key Competencies:

Education and Skills

Degree/ Diploma in Operations Management/ Production/ Technical Operations
Proven knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices regarding FMCG plant and equipment will be an advantage.
Knowledge of FSSC and Quality systems and standards will be an advantage.
Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance will be an advantage.
Basic knowledge of business, finance and management principles will be an advantage.
Knowledge of Human Resource principles and practices will be an advantage.
Computer skills – Microsoft Office, SAP, and Frameworks will be an advantage.

Interpersonal Skills

Excellent communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills.
Good people management skills and management of staff.
Identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimize risk.
Being able to develop good working relationships and trust within various teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and analytical behavior or abilities.
Working well with many different departments and external suppliers.
Always keeping the end-user/customer in mind.
