Position: Training Specialist – Surface Mining and Magnetite (2-Year Fixed Term)

Training Specialist will oversee the delivery of training at surface mining operation and magnetite
business. He or she will be able to coordinate and execute training requirements within the training
cycle comprising of training needs analysis, training design and development, training delivery or
facilitation, practical assessments, training impact analysis and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Conduct a training needs analysis through engagement with various stakeholders
• Develop training plan and schedule training interventions in-line with operational requirements
• Provide skills development opportunities to support the HRD Strategy
• Develop training systems, templates and learning material in-line with training and development
procedures
• Carry out training facilitation in accordance with ETQA requirements
• Carry out assessment and moderation in line with ETQA requirements
• Liaise with line management regarding training needs and report on learner progress
• Report on all skills development activities within area of responsibilities
• Provide relevant and up to date reports to line management on a continuous basis
• Maintain accurate skill matrix, matrix of training records, assessor log and moderator log
• Ensure 100% training compliance for all operational licences in terms on MHSA
• Design qualifications and apply for relevant scope extensions with the SETA
• Stays current with the latest training development in the mining sector through participation in MQA
TRG for implementation of new developments to maintain the organization’s accreditation
• Design and develop learning materials in terms of unit standards requirements and site specifics
• Ensure all learner registration and assessments are loaded on MQA I-share
• Follow up on training non-conformances and ensure training occurs according to legislated
requirements
• Represent T&D during incident/accident Investigations, Section 54s and implement/incorporate
corrective measures into the training learning material
• Review and update all training related procedures
• Participate in budget planning and ensure that the spent is aligned to the budget planned

Qualifications & Experience:
• Relevant National Diploma/ B Degree in Mining Related Qualification
