The Role: Truck Driver (Code 14)

The purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, hygienic, and timely transport of products to various locations. The position exists to maintain the integrity of the cold chain and ensure that food safety and quality are not compromised during transit. The main focus areas include heavy-duty truck operation, cold-chain management, and adherence to safety and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Code 14 heavy-duty trucks for long-distance and local routes with at least 3-5 years of experience.

• Monitor and control trailer temperatures to ensure products remain at required frozen or fresh levels.

• Conduct mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspections of refrigeration units, brakes, tyres, and lights.

• Adhere to all traffic laws, Road Traffic Act, safety regulations (OHSA), and internal health and safety policies.

• Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery notes, invoices, and cold-chain temperature logs.

• Manage the return of non-conforming products and notify management of missed deadlines.

• Supervise or assist with loading and offloading to ensure goods are secured and temperature breaches minimized.

About You

• Required 3–5 years of experience driving heavy-duty trucks.

• Essential experience with Fuller gearboxes (e.g., superlinks, interlinks).

• Grade 12 Senior Certificate required.

• Valid Code 14 heavy vehicle driver’s license with no endorsements.

• Must have own reliable transport and be able to pass a medical fitness evaluation.

• High level of integrity, strong time management, and strong geographical knowledge of Cape Town.

• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is advantageous.

• Experience with cold storage or refrigerated trailers is highly advantageous.
