WatersEdge Solutions is partnering with a client to recruit an experienced UK Tax Compliance Accountant to play a key quality assurance role within a growing international finance function. This is a niche opportunity for a UK-experienced professional who understands the intricacies of His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) processes and can ensure high standards across all tax compliance work being delivered to the UK market.
About the Role
As a UK Tax Compliance Accountant, you will be responsible for reviewing and quality assuring tax-related work prepared for UK entities. You’ll bring deep practical knowledge of UK tax compliance, including working with His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), Companies House, and related regulatory frameworks. This role is ideal for someone who has lived and worked in the UK, understands the nuances of the system, and can provide oversight, accuracy, and guidance to ensure compliance standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and quality assure UK tax compliance work before submission
- Ensure accuracy across various UK tax filings and regulatory submissions
- Liaise with HMRC on queries, clarifications, and compliance matters
- Provide guidance on UK tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Support internal teams in understanding UK tax processes and standards
- Review and validate submissions relating to Companies House
- Identify errors, risks, and areas for process improvement
- Ensure all work aligns with UK regulatory and compliance frameworks
- Assist in resolving complex tax queries and escalations
What You’ll Bring
- Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent)
- Strong experience working within the UK tax and compliance environment
- Direct experience dealing with HMRC and UK tax filings
- Solid understanding of Companies House requirements and processes
- Experience reviewing or quality assuring tax/compliance work
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and provide expert-level oversight
- Strong communication skills, particularly in explaining technical matters
- Experience living and working in the UK (highly preferred)
Nice to Have
- Experience working remotely or supporting offshore teams
- Exposure to multiple UK tax types (corporate tax, VAT, PAYE, etc.)
- Experience in process improvement or compliance standardisation
