Verification Officer (Fieldworker)

SUMMARY:
The Verification Officer is responsible for conducting thorough household verifications in line with the household assistance programmes. This role involves certifying households for benefits by assessing the number of occupants, verifying household details, and ensuring all relevant documentation and photographic evidence are scanned and collected prior to application approval.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Conduct on-site verification visits to households applying for assistance programmes. Accurately record the number of people residing in each household and verify their identities. Interview occupants to confirm household information and living conditions, when required. Take clear and comprehensive photographs of the household as per the requirements. Complete detailed verification reports for review and record-keeping. Liaise with community leaders, ward councillors, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate the verification process, as and when required. Ensure compliance with subsidy policy and applicable legislation. Maintain confidentiality and treat all household information with sensitivity and respect. Support awareness campaigns and outreach initiatives related to social support programmes. Minimum Requirements: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification 1 - 3 years' experience in community work, non-profit organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations (CBOs), social work, fieldwork, or similar roles involving community engagement in the South African context Competencies and Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse communities Attention to detail and thoroughness in verification and documentation Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Problem-solving skills and sound judgement Basic computer literacy (MS Office, email, data entry) Tech-savvy, with the ability to confidently use digital devices and applications for data collection and reporting Fluency in English and at least one local language The position is available in the following areas, please indicate the area for which you are applying: Randfontein Carletonville Krugersdorp Vanderbijlpark Meyerton Heidelberg Should you not receive a response within 2 weeks after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
